How does a Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger work?
The corrugated plate generates high turbulence in the fluid, and its heat transfer efficiency is much higher than that of traditional shell and tube heat exchangers. The size of plate heat exchangers with the same heat transfer performance is many times smaller. The corrugated plate has a regular corrugated surface and different corrugated angles, which can be adjusted to achieve the perfect match between heat transfer and pressure drop.
The cylindrical shell is very suitable for high temperature and high-pressure conditions, and can withstand high temperature and pressure impacts. The fluid on both sides can be distributed through a guiding plate for a single pass or multiple pass configuration, and the number of passes on both sides can be designed separately according to the working conditions.

Openable Plate & Shell Heat Exchangers
Nexson Openable Plate and Shell Heat Exchangers provides enhanced flexibility by enabling the plate pack to be withdrawn from the shell for inspection or mechanical cleaning. This is made possible by its flanged and bolted shell design. The plate pack allows for swift removal and refitting, minimizing process downtime.
The welded plate core is filled and fixed in the circular shell, and there are no sealing gaskets between the plates. It can be applied in corrosive, high-temperature, and high-pressure environments.
Fully Welded Plate & Shell Heat Exchangers
The core component of Nexson Fully Welded Plate and Shell Heat Exchanger is a fully welded plate pack enclosed within a robust shell, eliminating the need for gaskets. Both the plate pack and the shell are entirely welded, yet they remain separate, allowing for expansion and contraction in response to temperature changes.
The circular plate design ensures uniform stress distribution, enhancing durability and performance.
Kettle Reboiler Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger
Nexson Kettle Reboiler Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger is a compact, fully welded plate & shell kettle reboiler designed for high-efficiency evaporation in demanding applications. Operating as a flooded evaporator, it maintains the refrigerant in a submerged state for optimal heat transfer.
Ideal for refrigeration, heat pump, and ORC cycles, it evaporates media like ammonia using a hot stream in counter-current flow. The integrated manifold ensures effective phase separation, while minimizing shell size, wall thickness, and fluid volume — resulting in reduced operational costs.
